Terra Industries, Miva Open University Launch Robotics Labs – Innovation Village
Terra Industries has partnered with Miva Open University to establish robotics and drone laboratories across the university’s learning centres, beginning with a pilot facility in Abuja.
The initiative is designed to provide students with practical engineering experience while strengthening technology-focused education through hands-on learning.
Practical Robotics and Drone Training
Under the partnership, students will receive practical training in designing, assembling, testing, and flying drones as part of their academic programmes.
The robotics and drone laboratories will complement classroom instruction by giving learners direct exposure to engineering concepts and emerging technologies, helping them develop industry-relevant technical skills.
The partners say the goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical education and real-world engineering practice.
Building Industry-Ready Talent
Beyond setting up the laboratories, Terra Industries will organise practical workshops for students and provide specialised training for Miva Open University faculty members.
The collaboration also includes internship and employment opportunities for students, with top-performing participants eligible for placement within Terra Industries after completing their training.
By connecting academic learning with workplace experience, the initiative aims to produce graduates who are better prepared for careers in engineering, robotics, and unmanned aerial systems.
Supporting Africa’s Technology Workforce
The partnership reflects a growing emphasis on experiential learning as universities seek to equip students with skills that match industry demand.
As robotics, automation, and drone technologies become increasingly important across sectors such as agriculture, logistics,…
