Already, Google enables you unlock your phone using a Pixel Watch. This is done through the Watch Unlock feature. Now, the brand is working on yet another feature. This time, Pixel phones will unlock Pixel watches.

However, the strings of code in the latest Connected Phone & Watch app, reveal a “Phone to Watch Unlock” feature. This implies that it will automatically unlock your Pixel Watch whenever your paired Pixel phone is unlocked. Though this feature seems exclusive to a Pixel phone and Pixel watch pairing.

Once it’s received, you will be able to skip entering a PIN or pattern. Then, simply unlock your phone to use your watch. To enable you learn about the feature when it becomes available, you can see proactive notifications like “Automatically unlock your watch?” and “Unlocking your watch just got easier”.

It requires a one-time setup. This means you’ll enter the watch’s PIN or pattern on your phone before it’s allowed to automatically unlock your watch. Also, the trusted relationship between your old one and your phone will be transferred to the new watch in case you get a new Pixel watch).

The Pixel Watch 5 will unveil on the 12th of August. Google might launch this feature of unlocking your watch with your phone at the same period with Pixel Watch 5. For now, the date isn’t known.
